Finding Work [Evi] Empty Finding Work [Evi]

Post by Calypso Tue Sep 05, 2017 12:26 am

As Calypso walked through the busy streets of Tartaros, she couldn't help but be amazed by how different it was from her home. She grew up with other Alacasians in the forests surrounding The Gates of Ozulon. Tartaros was definitely not what she was used to. However, different didn't mean bad. Different was exciting. Thrilling, even. Calypso's natural curiosity drew her to new places. Being that Tartaros was the capital city, it would only seem fitting that it would be one of the first places she would visit. However, she didn't plan on going to different places to just sight see. She wanted to find work in at least one of the places she traveled to. She could have stayed in the forests and worked as a guardian like a lot of the other traditional Alacasians, but Calypso had other plans in mind. She didn't want to conform into the rest of society. She wanted to be different and so she did.

Looking around, Calypso searched for some kind of flyer or poster advertising the need of an employee of sorts. After quite a bit of searching, the Alacasian's gaze fell across an advertisement put out by someone by the name of Evi Elwood. In essence, this Evi Elwood person wanted someone to act as a butler or maid. It wasn't her ideal job, but it was something. Besides, it may turn out better than she expected. Plus, if she got the job, she would be able to make some connections within Tartaros better. Connections within the capital city would most likely be beneficial to her in the long run.

Calypso looked at the advertisement and found the address listed on it. New to the area, she did have quite a bit of trouble finding the manor, and that was saying something since it obviously didn't blend in with the rest of the houses and buildings in Tartaros. Perhaps the struggle was due to the manor not being inside Tartaros, but just outside of it. Regardless, she made it to Evi Elwood's manor.

The Alacasian went up to the front doors. Before knocking, she brushed whatever specks of dirt or dust managed to get onto her clothes and quickly felt to make sure that all her strands of hair were tucked into her French braid. She had to look presentable in front of her potential employer. Once she was sure that she looked more than satisfactory, she gave a good three knocks on the door and waited for it to be answered.

Finding Work [Evi] Empty Re: Finding Work [Evi]

Evi looked over his shoulder as he heard the sound of chewing. He was outside working on his garden in the crops where he kept the vegetables. When he looked over he saw the stubborn Warpltinger, named Shelby, ripping out and eating his carrots and potatoes again as it drew his Ire. This pain in the ass, rabbit abomination was sent to him about a month ago by the castle and now he had to care for it. It was practically the entire reason he had sent a flyer out looking for people to work for him was because now apparently he was going to be dealing with live animals, and this place was not in a position to care for live animals.

“SHELBY!” the professor shouted as the chimera bared its teeth and horns in his direction before darting off to try and go around to the other side of the building from the front. “HEY GET BACK HER DAMN IT,” he continued to shout angrily at the beast and chasing it towards the front of the manor. Naturally, the beast was outrunning the professor in robes. The beast stopped at the corner of the small mansion however and started growling while facing the front door. Confused, Evi wondered what at the front door was getting the Warpltinger to get all territorial as he ran up to it and turned the corner.

“Can I help you,” Evi said as he started to turn the corner to see who or what was at the door, assuming if it hadn’t tried to attack the rabbit by the time he reached it and was turning to see them it probably wasn’t an animal and was probably a person.

When the person in question was in his line of sight his immediate instinct was more or less the same as the Warpltinger’s, though he kept himself under control with a flat expression. It was a lady. She was moderately attractive with light brown hair and a braid running around her head. She was only a touch taller than he was as well, which was fairly normal as Evi was quite small for a man to begin with. She was holding a sheet of paper in her hands and it didn’t take much for Evi to deduce what it was. It was probably one of the advertisements he set out around town. His initial answer rang in his head, HELL NO I’M NOT HIRING YOU!

Finding Work [Evi] Empty Re: Finding Work [Evi]

As Calypso waited for the door to open, she once again did a last minute check to be one hundred percent sure that she looked presentable. As she did so, a sense of nervousness washed over her, which was normal for someone applying for a job, especially their first. Calypso didn't really have a job in her Alacasian civilization. Most of her life was composed of training to be like the Alacasians who guarded and protected the forests near the Gates of Ozulon. That would have been her first job, but she decided to do something different instead and travel around and take on jobs wherever she went.

The door never opened. Instead, the master of the manor came from around the corner, as he was already outside. He had short, strangely silver hair and blue eyes. He was not more than an inch shorter than her and he dressed himself in dark clothes. She didn't know exactly who she expected to be the master of the manor, but it was safe to say that almost anyone would expect the owner to be... older. Sure, Evi Elwood did appear to be older than Calypso, even if it only was by a few years or so, but she expected to see someone, at the very least, in their mid thirties. Near him was a... well, she didn't really know what to call it. It was a rabbit-like creature that bore sharp teeth and antlers that resembled a deer. It was like a more dangerous version of the jackalope. The uneasiness was shown in the Alacasian's face, but nonetheless, she went on with her business.

Calypso cleared her throat and brandished the flyer. "Mr. Elwood? I saw this advertisement saying that you needed someone to do some things around the manor for you. I would be more than happy to do so, that is, if you haven't found someone else already to do the job." She hoped that Evi would give her the job (and that the mythical looking rabbit wouldn't cause any trouble). She really needed to do some work, and if she got this job, she would be off to a good start.

Finding Work [Evi] Empty Re: Finding Work [Evi]

Evi wanted to say no immediately but his urgency to get employees was forcing his hand. The mansion looked abandoned in ninety percent of the place and if he let the place stay as bad as it was, there was going to be an issue with the growling warpltinger wandering around. Evi couldn’t afford the ramifications if it got sick on some mold spores or struggled to breathe in the dusty air. The damn thing also kept eating his garden so if he didn’t get another set of eyes on this creature soon he may not have a garden for much longer.

Evi’s initial approach was to try to deter her from wanting the job anymore. “N-not sure this would be the j-job for you,” Evi replied, trying to control his stuttering, hoping she didn’t hear it. “I deal with a lot of dead a-animals t-that you’ll be helping d-d-dispose of.” Evi’s hopes were that the prospect of dead animals would keep this girl away from here. Girls didn’t like dead animal’s right? That was correct right? That’s what he was lead to believe at least. Evi had to provide an extra bit of motivation. “You’ll also be r-respons-sible for taking c-care of the warpltinger at my feet,” Evi continued pointing down at the growling chimera at his feet. “Are you s-sure you c-can handle th-that?” Evi finished. Hopefully the growling fuzz ball finally ended up being useful for once rather than just waltzing around like it paid rent and then destroying Evi’s garden.
