The genius gardener {OPEN}

As dawn began to creep up over the horizon one man was already awake on the outskirts of Tartaros. The man had already eaten his fill of food sent to him by the castle within the walls as part of his payment for his research. Clad in black robes he walked around his large home, which doubled as his work space. The man studied wildlife of all sorts from the Plants to the Animals. The castle was more interested however in mythical beasts in particular. They regularly brought him wyverns, Pegasus, Werewolves, fire breathing salamanders, not to mention the variety of chimera he was brought. Today though he was taking a day to himself. Yesterday he finished his work on discussing the anatomical structure of a fire breathing salamander, with suggestions on how to combat it. Apparently these books were fairly well distributed among adventurers since they discussed how to defeat and avoid these particular creatures. This would be the third creature he fully researched to a point that he had published material on it. The other two creatures were the Mandrake, a plant monster that lived as a bulb underground, and the giant ground-borrowing snapping turtle, a man sized turtle that can swim through the dirt and is extremely territorial. All of this research included dissections of animals he was brought as samples by the Castles' men, and his own observations of the creatures in fieldwork. Naturally, there were certain creatures the man wasn't capable of dealing with in any capacity so he had yet to observe the creatures in the field. Pegasus seemed like the next creature to observe although he heard that they were more aggressive than their much more timid and grounded horse brethren of the same biological order.

The man put it all to the side today though and was going to work on his garden outside. Filled to the brim with a variety of species of flora of many different orders. The man knew them all by their scientific names. Perhaps it would be easier to state them by their more common names. Hornworts, Mosses, Cycads, Clubmosses, Spikemosses, flowers, liverworts, ferns and horsetails filled the area surrounding his garden. Today was the day he tended to his garden and give his plants his utmost attention.

Zelya was sitting in the back of a rather lavish looking carriage on her way through the city of Tartaros. One of her legs were crossed over the other and a book was opened on her lap. The carriage was made of mahogany with gold trimming, being pulled by a pair of black stallions. The windows had a pair of curtains keeping the inside concealed. Zelya was wearing her standard attire, ready for battle while looking stylish; the advantage of wearing arcane equipment. The pseudo kitsune continued reading as the cart moved along down the cobblestone road, not for fun, but rather reviewing the author's work. She was judging how thorough he was, and how humane his tests were.

The cart slowed to a halt in front of a large mansion where he was supposed to reside, courtesy of the High King. She wasn't too keen on delivering other people's packages since it fell out of the work of an adventurer, and even further from a Guild Leader's job; but evidently this was a special package that required safeguarding. The High King had personally gone to the Solar Phoenix headquarters to request Zelya took it to him. It was a rather rare creature with the body of a rabbit, wings of a hawk, teeth of a wolf, and a strong affinity for magic. The creature was mostly tame so long as it wasn't mistreated, and was currently laying on her lap without a worry in the world. "Alright missy..." Zelya said in a soft, friendly tone. The warpltinger looked at her with eyes far too intelligent for a common beast. Zelya held it up, musing at how its ears flopped to either side of its head. "Let's go. I'll warn the scientist not to get too grabby, okay?" she said with a friendly smile, the warpltinger twitching its nose at her.

Exiting the carriage, Zelya noted the entire building was surrounded by plant life that was well organized. "Well... at least he's tidy. Hope he's not crazy..." she said in a hushed voice to herself. She walked around the exterior with her ears twitching, following the sounds of movement in the garden until she came across a man wearing black robes. Zelya was holding the warpltinger against her chest with its front two paws lazily dangling over her arms. A generous smile crossed her fact as she called out to him. "Mister Elwood!" she shouted in a gregarious tone. Zelya was always happy to meet people, but she was also wary of them at the same time.

Zelya moved across the garden, making sure not to crush anything one her way through. A gentle wind passed as she was bridging the gap, causing her fiery hair to gently flicker along with her fur cloak. Her minidress didn't move much more since her slender legs were already moving it enough as is. When she finally got within punching distance of Evi, she extended a hand gently and said "I'm Zelya, head of Solar Phoenix." with a light hearted tone. Her other arm remained in place since it was keeping the warpltinger pressed firmly to her chest, right between her bust. If Evi would shake her hand, he'd notice the extremely smooth skin and gentle touch from the almost-kitsune. He'd also notice her face didn't have a single blemish, and her peach lips were still formed in a kind smile; displaying her friendly nature.

Once introductions were over, she'd get down to business. "The High King requested I delivered this to you. It's a warpltinger, and was a pain in the ass to catch. She's a bit testy in the mornings, and likes to sleep early. Don't approach her from behind, grab her without asking permission, or attack her or she'll try to kill you. Her name's Shelby and she likes a fifty-fifty herb-chicken mix for breakfast and lunch, with an herbal salad for dinner. Your task will be learning what you can from her."

The man was focused on his Hyacinths when he heard a carriage pull up to the front. The purple flower was a symbol of dependability and faithfulness with the purple flowers bunching up on the ends of their stems, making them look like miniature flower bushes. You had to wear gloves when you were handling their bulbs as their bulbs secreted an irritant that would damage the skin. The secretion is also toxic so one must be careful when planting them.

The man began to finish watering the plants in order to greet his visitor and looked up only to see his visitor and a face that was a mix of fear and irritation picked up on his face. It was a woman. It was a pretty woman. It was a pretty woman that was well endowed. The gardener froze with this face on as the woman approached him and extended a hand that he absolutely could not make contact with unless he wanted to go into a panicked frenzy. Women were scary and were best to be avoided. “I-I-I am Mr. Elwood. F-f-f-feel f-f-f-f-f-ree t-t-t-t-t-o c-c-c-call m-m-me E,” the man replied, stating his surname and the nickname he gave himself to avoid being called by his feminine first name, that nobody pronounced correctly anyway.

Once she stated why she was here Evi eventually looked at the beast buried within her bosom: the incredibly rare warpltinger, a live one at that, a fact that only served to irritate Evi even more. MY PLANTS! The screaming echoed in Evi’s head. Warpltingers were omnivorous but fairly voracious and keeping him out of the garden and properly caring for him would be a nightmare. Evi’s head fell as he looked down. I am going to kill that damned old man, Evi thought to himself but would never state openly about harming the high king. Not only did he send a woman to his place when he was aware of his gynophobia but he wants him to handle live animals now? Every animal the high king had sent was already deceased so why bring him a live animal this time? He didn’t have a staff behind him so it only made things more difficult.

Looking down, now at the woman’s feet, Evi noticed what kind of flower she was standing in and looked back up, much more composed as he was jolted back into reality for a moment. “Can you get out of the Monkshood? The plants extremely poisonous. Do so with minimal movement and without making contact with the plant,” Evi stated far more coherent than his earlier rambling. Aconitum, or Monkshood as it was more commonly known had a number of names around the world. Wolf’s Bane, Leopard’s Bane, blue rocket, mouse bane, Women’s bane, the devil’s helmet, or the queen of poisons. Whatever you called it, it was something you did not want to fiddle around with, hence Evi getting more serious. The poison can absorb through skin and didn’t take large amounts to kill. Evi knew how to treat the poison although it wasn’t a pleasant experience, though death by Aconite was a far worse experience. In minimal doses, miss Zelya could experience Paresthesia.

Zelya noticed the change in demeanor as Evi requested she moved. Zelya didn't need to be told why since she spent a great deal of time in the wild and was used to being around dangerous plants. She was wearing a pair of orange boots that matched the minidress she wore under her cloak. They ran all the way up to the middle of her thigh, just an inch or two below where her minidress ended; so, she was well protected from them. Still, she could tell that the scientist was uneasy with her in that spot so nonchalantly stepped away without making a single sound, or spreading any of the pollen.

Zelya had a tendency to be playful, and this was no exception. Rather than stepping aside, she stepped towards Evi until she was clear of the plant, and almost touching chests. She leaned forward to bring her face closer to his, trying to lock eyes with the man. Her own would be a brilliant magenta, and despite being the leader of a guild, were quite soft and loving looking. "Do you always worry so much?" she said with a playfully sexy tone before taking a step to the side to give him some room. Zelya held the warpltinger out to him and said "Hold Shelby." with a less playful tone. As soon as Evi reached out for it, the rabbit would show off its inner wolf by releasing a deep growl. "Play nice." Zelya would say to it, causing the rabbit to whimper and let Evi hold it.

Zelya would walk to a location that was clear of any plant life and suddenly burst into flames for a brief moment. The dirt below her feet was already scorched and smouldering, letting Evi know how hot her flames were for such a short duration; not even a second. Even with the plants being a fair distance away, the tips on the leaves of the one closest to her had turned black from the residual heat. Once she noticed it, Zelya approached the plant with a frown and gingerly held the leaf tip on her fingers. She released an exasperated sigh. "Still not far enough." she said in a thought consumed tone. A gentle, orange glow took over her and the plant as Zelya began using her healing to undo the damage she'd done and turning the black spot to a verdant green. "We should probably take this inside." she said while getting up and waiting for Evi's reply.

Evi fell backwards on his ass as he tried to take a step back to keep his distance but ended up looking stupid in the process, falling over on his magnolias. Evi quickly got himself back up to his feet, taking an extra step or two back to maintain some distance before she handed him the monster rabbit. Evi reached out to take the monster rabbit without any real hesitation as a single warpltinger would not have the power necessary to kill him, holding the creature the same way you would hold a rabbit, while trying to avoid any physical contact with Zelya, grabbing it by the torso and hind legs.

Evi walked towards the door when she suggested they go inside and took her inside the small manor. Fortunately he was nowhere near the laboratory, which he hadn’t finished cleaning and still had bloodstains from his previous dissections of the fire salamanders. Inside the manor was dusty and much less cared for than the outer part of the facility. Evi didn’t have any staffers to maintain this huge manor and since he was normally focused on his work he never had time to actually clean the place, especially area’s he didn’t need to or areas he never used. The only place Evi regularly cleaned was the laboratory. There were four other rooms he used: a bathroom, a bedroom, the kitchen, and a small room that acted as a study and library, none of which were particularly clean themselves, just not covered in dust in cobwebs like the rest of the place. Evi brought Zelya to the library, which had a table and a few chairs in the center of the room atop a green rug, two pots with a mix of lavender and dahlia flowers in the windowsill, and a few bookshelves filling one wall of the room to the brim with books and research materials depending on which shelf you were looking at. On the table were more books and papers strewn across it in a rather unsightly manner but had its own organized chaos that only Mr. Elwood could understand. Evi took a seat in one of the chairs while hold the rabbit chimera to his chest and stroking its back gently to calm it, allowing Zelya to take one of the other chairs.“S-so was th-there something else you w-w-wanted?” Evi asked, back to his stammering ineptitude.

Noting the dustiness of the manor, Zelya didn't like that the warpltinger would be living here while it was being examined. She was plenty capable of caring for the animal, and its home would be considerably more tidy looking. She was lead to a small library with a table and set of chairs in the middle where they sat. Zelya looked around the room, her magenta eyes scanning the spines of each of the books on the shelves. When he asked what she wanted to talk about, she focused in on him with predator like fixation. "I was wanting to create an arrangement between Solar Phoenix and yourself. However, you seem to be somewhat uneasy working with me. Tell me, did I saw something to offend you?" Zelya would speak with a professional tone while looking at Evi with a less gregarious tone than before. If he would state that it's not the reason for his unease, she would say "Did someone tell you I was a ruthless, or disagreeable person?" If he would reply that, that too wasn't the reason; she'd say "Did I offend you during a past encounter? I assure you I didn't mean to." her eyes would take on a more innocent look at this point. If he would say that also wasn't the reason, she'd ask "Then why are you so uneasy?"

Elyane barges in, not because of rudeness of anything, she just happened to be late, quite late. The fairy in disguise forgot that Zelya wanted her to help sith the negotiation with this scientist person that could potentially bolster the guild's sciency part on the botany sector. However on the day itself she found she had slept in, and in a risk flew all the way to the manor where Zelya was said to meet her to have the dicussion. Something about Elyane's knowledge on the Enchanted Forest and Fairies was going to be help to factor in their agreement. What did she not expect, was the dust.

Having barged in she had picked up quite a gust and had the dust bellow into her face. Her nose scrunchs up and in an instant, a huge sneeze and fairy dust flies everywhere in pretty purple sparkles. Looking up apologetically, she looked around, unsure of how to introduce herself and what to say to Zelya.

After stating her intentions, Evi wasn’t really given a moment to consider as miss Zelya started pestering Evi with questions about his discomfort with her and his less than hospitable behavior. “N-No,” Evi replied, hoping she wouldn’t keep probing. Unfortunately she did continue to delve further into the subject. “N-no,” Evi replied again, only to be hit with another question, “N-n-no,” Evi replied a little more whiny and childish this time. This was the one subject he really didn’t want to talk about as his grip inadvertently got a little tighter around the Warpltinger, which it wasn’t too particularly pleased with as it started to growl a little as Zelya asked her final question, wanting to know why Evi wasn’t particularly pleased with her presence.

Evi couldn’t really respond but after a moment of silence the door to the room burst open and a waving cloud of dust blew into the room with a powerful gust of wind. “WHAT THE-,” Evi shouted in shock as he let go of the warpltinger that proceeded to jump away from him, to god knows where. Evi started coughing as the dust started to settle in one of the few rooms he actually kept clean and dusted. His eyes and face were now an ashy grey with dust and he was trying to get the dust out of his eyes as he shouted explicative after explicative after explicative in frustration, trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

Zelya's ears perked up as the loud crash had disrupted her conversation. Magenta eyes blinked with a surprised look while staring at the new arrival. "I've heard of going out with a bang, but this'd be the first time I've seen someone come in with one..." she stated, sounding somewhat impressed by the accomplishment. Zelya wiped dust off her face and began brushing herself off before letting out a sigh. The warpltinger she had transported was darting about the manor, even flying every few seconds to try and find a safe place. Zelya had begun whistling a song she'd heard before that she knew the small creature, and many others, had found comfort in hearing. It was a song of peace that caused Shelby to slow her panicking and begin making her way back to Zelya's arms.

"Elayne, you're late. Mister Elwood, this is one of my employees. She tends to the bar back at HQ, and entertains the guild from time to time... that, and keeps my mail safe when I'm away." Zelya stated calmly before turning back to Elayne. "You should know to knock first. I won't take the cost of damages from your pay, but the cleaning bill will be deducted." Zelya said in a business-like tone. She sat back down and began comforting the scared warpltinger by gently petting it.

"I AM SO SORRY BOSS!" Elyane was quick to bow profusely,
her wings flapping like a cape before she got dizzy from all the bowing. Brushing her hair and her steelleaf outfit, she looks up at the two.

"Greetings Mr Eliwood! I apologize for my entry but I rushed here as fast as possible to account for lost time!" Elyane then clears her throat. "According to boss here, you said you wish to know certain things about the elusive fairies in exchange for your studies in the guild am I correct sir?"
